6 Day Great Serengeti Migration Safari itinerary
Day 0: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, relax at the lodge or explore the city before your safari briefing. Enjoy an overnight stay as you prepare for your 6 Days Serengeti Migration Safari.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's premier safari destinations. Famous for its ancient baobab trees and impressive elephant herds, Tarangire is also home to lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and more than 500 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your afternoon game drive. In the late afternoon, drive to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Karatu to Northern Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enter Serengeti National Park. Continue your journey north with game viewing along the way as you cross the endless plains toward the Kogatende region. This area is renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration and the famous Mara River crossings between July and October. Along the route, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, wildebeest and zebras before arriving at your luxury tented camp in Northern Serengeti.

Day 3: Full-Day Northern Serengeti Migration Safari
Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti, one of the best places to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration. Your professional safari guide will track the movement of the herds and take you to the best locations for viewing the spectacular Mara River crossings, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras brave crocodile-filled waters. Throughout the day, search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, hyenas and a variety of bird species while enjoying a picnic lunch in the heart of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Full-Day Northern Serengeti Migration Safari
Enjoy another full day dedicated to the Great Wildebeest Migration in Northern Serengeti. Having two full days in the migration area provides excellent opportunities to witness Mara River crossings and dramatic predator-prey interactions. Explore different parts of the Kogatende region while searching for resident wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards and cheetahs before returning to camp for dinner.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Northern Serengeti before travelling south through Serengeti National Park. Continue with wildlife viewing across the vast plains as you make your way toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This scenic journey offers excellent opportunities to spot predators and grazing wildlife before arriving at your lodge on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim or in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Africa's finest wildlife destinations and offers excellent opportunities to spot the Big Five, including the endangered black rhino, as well as elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and numerous antelope species. After a picnic lunch, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha, where you will be transferred to your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
