8 Days Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari

Day 0: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, relax at the lodge before your safari briefing. Enjoy your overnight stay as you prepare for your 8 Days Serengeti Migration Safari.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations. The park is renowned for its ancient baobab trees, large elephant herds and abundant wildlife, including lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and over 500 bird species. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch before continuing to Karatu for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2: Karatu to Lake Natron

After breakfast, depart Karatu and journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Great Rift Valley toward Lake Natron. Surrounded by volcanic mountains, including the active Ol Doinyo Lengai, Lake Natron is one of Tanzania's most unique natural attractions. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a guided walk to the beautiful Ngare Sero Waterfall or explore the shores of Lake Natron, famous for its seasonal flamingo population and spectacular scenery. Relax at your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before dinner.

Day 3: Lake Natron to Northern Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, continue your safari to Northern Serengeti National Park via one of Tanzania's most scenic routes. Arrive in the Kogatende region and enjoy an afternoon game drive as you begin searching for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Depending on the season, witness large herds of wildebeest and zebras as well as resident wildlife including elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas before arriving at your camp.

Day 4 & Day 5: Full-Day Northern Serengeti Migration Safari

Spend two unforgettable days exploring Northern Serengeti, one of the best destinations to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration between July and October. Your experienced safari guide will track the movement of the herds and position you at the best locations to observe the spectacular Mara River crossings, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras brave crocodile-filled waters. Throughout your game drives, search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas and other iconic African wildlife while enjoying picnic lunches in the heart of the Serengeti. Having two full days in the Kogatende region significantly increases your chances of witnessing river crossings and unforgettable predator-prey interactions.

Day 6: Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely game drive as you travel south through Serengeti National Park. This journey allows you to explore the diverse habitats of the Serengeti while searching for resident predators, large herbivores and an incredible variety of wildlife. Arrive in Central Serengeti in the afternoon for another exciting game drive before checking into your camp.

Day 7: Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Start the day with a morning game drive in Central Serengeti before continuing toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy wildlife viewing along the way as you leave the Serengeti plains behind and make your way to your lodge on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim or in Karatu. Relax and enjoy dinner while preparing for your final safari experience.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the Big Five and offers one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Search for the endangered black rhino, lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and numerous antelope species while enjoying a picnic lunch on the crater floor. In the afternoon, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha, where you will be transferred to your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
